Oguchi Onyewu to Livorno !?

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments Add Comments

Some unreliable media is reporting the Livorno have placed a formal offer to the now Standard Liège free agent Oguchi Onyewu !?

Smells a lot like Aldo is jumping on the PR bandwagon again… To be fair the Gooch , as they say, has expressed his desire to play in Italy or Spain and has now been rumoured to be going much pretty much anywhere in the Big 3.Altough Aldo has mentioned the Big Syracuse bred Central back’s name in the past, it’s highly unlikely he’d be coming to our favourite Tuscan Serie A town but i think this rumour has picked up because of the American Army Base in Livorno, Camp Darby. Livorno having a semi-big american community out there so the gooch,as they say, might feel closer to Home (He does talk about never adapting to European culture in the video below)

A Livorno Mercato (We keep Candreva)

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments 8 Comments

Here’s a bunch of unorganized,misspelled, mercato ramblings

Francesco Ceravolo leaves Livorno a winner and New DS is Nelso Ricci and he’s been working overtime already…

Spoke to Milan :

Ricci: Yo Galliani ! I’ll give you a cool Million and 50% of Cesena mid Diniz for all of Romano Perticone ?
Galliani : Ok
Ricci : Sweet! Thanks Uncle Fester

Then spoke with Juve :

Went something like this : Yo Secco ! You know how Rizza and Volpe are in comproprietà…well how about you keep Volpe and we keep Rizza ? (covering the phone while he’s laughing) Secco : Let me get back to you on this one. And please charge Dario Knezevic’s return to YOUR purolator account !
We’ll see what we do with him once he gets here. Rizza was won at le buste by Livorno with a 100 000 $ bid.

Met with Parma :

Ricci : How about that Cristiano Lucarelli fellow ? We’re looking at a 2 year loan and we’ll pitch in Massimo Loviso, Guidolin likes him no? How about Dario Knezevic…? Ghirardi\Leonardo : We’ll call you back. Spinelli now saying 99% sure Lucarelli will be back

Meanwhile Spinelli is calling Walter Mazzari, Mario Beretta and just got Antoni Conte’s number…

Livorno back in Serie A ! A Year in Review

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments 8 Comments

After a heartbreaking drop to Serie B last season Livorno are finally back in Serie A after only one season. Promotion to Serie A for a Livorno fan is like winning the Scudetto for a Roma fan (Hey, it happens almost as often) That second half was the most fun i had watching a football match since the last 5 minutes of Italy - Germany 2006 (Andiam’ a Berlino Beppe !). Tavano’s header off a Diamanti capolavoro to make it 1-0 55 minutes in 1-0!… 7 minutes later…Bergvold’s flying down the left wing on a promising counter and floats a cross in the box that’s clearly going over Danilevicius (and you have 1.3 seconds to think : why the fuck did you do that !? u stupid mutherf…) just to see Diamanti come out of nowhere, enter the cameras view and just smacks in a sweet (ass) right footed volley and make it 2-0 !!! Then some beautiful images of Caracciolo (Mr. Uber Crap) whining and getting more and more frustrated, About 50 carabinieri in riot gear lined up infront of the pissed off Brescia fans (I’m pretty sure i heard them singing the Kaiser Chiefs ; I predict a Riot in unisson) and poor little Taddei, Brescia’s Pisa born craptastic trequartista (OK he’s decent but it’s not my fault he’s from Pisa!), was battling it out like a Vampire Devil in garlic flavoured holy water….then 75 minutes in…Livorno counter…Danilevicius(!) with a nice little side-heel to Bergvold who slaps in a curling left footed shot !!!!… GOL!GOL!GOL! Chi non salta è un Pisano !!! Chi non salta è un Pisano !!! Chi non salta è un Pisano !!! Serie A PorcA la MadoscA ! 15 minutes later the pitch is invaded by 20 000 crazy Livorno fans !!!

Not only is this Promotion extra special seeing how we should have finished first or second in the standings, it’s the fact that we eliminated Brescia, a team trascinata by a Pisano, Riccardo Taddei !, on a year where Pisa get demoted to Serie C !!!

A!?!!?…HAHAHA…A…AHHH ! Chi non salta è un Pisano !!!

Brescia 2-2 Livorno , 1st Leg highlights

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments 2 Comments

Livorno played some excellent footbal in the 1st half with Tavano & Diamanti running the show and putting the Amaranto ahead by 2 goals after 15 minutes of play. The Livorno counter attack was quicker than Roberto Benigni at a Dante speed recital contest. Unfortunately, The Rondinelle’s Tiny Taddei tortured the compact Livorno defense all game long. This mixed in with Diamanti having to leave at the half because of too many shot to the shins, Mazzoni’s brain fart on the second goal and the fact that Danilevicius can’t hold the ball for his teammates if it would save his life and there’s your recipe for a pareggio. Nonetheless Livorno played some decent football but we could just see how hard the last 15 minutes of the game was on the team’s stamina. All in all a well played and managed game. Ruotolo had the right idea by placing Perticone on the right instead of the attack minded Rosi (but it wouldn’t have been a bad idea to insert the big Roman Rosi infront of him, instead of the mini twin for some well needed strength) Gaston Cellerino provided not more than the Lithuanian non-sensation but at least he got under the skin of many a brescian defender. Loviso needs to stop disapearing for 15 minute periods three times a game and thank god Alfonso De Lucia will be back for the return leg. Ruotolo should have ample players to chose from in midfield on June 20th

Forza Labronici la Serie A è vicinissima !

Livorno e La Pareggite or Close, But No Cigar

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments 10 Comments

OK…OK…We’ve been clearly dominating all season…getting numerous chances on goal per game, we’re still in the top 3 even tough Tommy Danilevicius started a lot of games, one of the best-if not the best (just to lazy to look it up)-defences in Serie B, the only goals we’re conceding are consequences of individual brainfarts, squad is compact and playing the system well and are imposing their own pace to almost each and every game…so what the fuck is the problem?!? (And I say this as a loving Livornese tifoso, that expects them to have a 15 point lead, wants them back thriving in Serie A ASAP, let’s say I’m hard to please)

Saying coach Acori is too easy, and the past has shown us that too many coaches causes headaches. While Mr. Acori has clearly shown his excellent knowledge of the game and its tactics all season long. He’s a very good tactician; he adapts his formation well to every opponent and does the same during games. Solid coach, no doubt…but is he a good enough motivator to get the best out of his players each and every time they grace the pitch? Livorno needs to hire Tony Robbins!

Grosseto 2-3 Livorno, Highlights and an actual Analysis!?

By: Marco Stucazzo | Comments 1 Comment

We are only 2 points away from Bari but Livorno definitely demonstrated serious character on the pitch today versus Grosseto, in their umpteenth Tuscan derby of the season. Down 2-0 after 25 minutes, mostly a mix of bad luck and brain farts and then the usual Livornese scenario unfolded… Diamanti pulls one out of his ass from like 35 yards to bring the game to 2-1 before half time…the it was all Livorno again…Tavano picked up a ball on the edge of the box to put it passed the Grossetto keeper to tie the game and then, here’s the unusual twist, Martin Bergvold picks up the ball at midfield, dribbles past everybody, stops at the edge of the area and flies one in, Francesco Totti style from the right edge of the box 3-2 after 70 minutes! Then Alfonso De Lucia makes a spectacular save with a couple of minutes left and voilà ! Still up top Serie B…!!!! It’s fun being a Livorno fan right now ! Forza Labronici !
