2004 Bronze Medal and WC2006
Marco Amelia has been rumoured to leave Livorno for about 3 years now. The young Azzurro made it through the summer once again and is still the # 1 for our favourite burgundy boys. His non-transfer was probably the best move Livorno made all summer.
He’s big, he’s quick, he can score and is still relatively young for a GoalKeeper. I’ve said it before, but Marco needs to play some serious football with a big club. If GiGi Buffon goes down with an injury, Marco’s the only logical replacement on the National Squad. I don’t think he’s ready to fill the Gigi shoes yet. That’s why he (and Italia) absolutely needs to play twice a week and in the Champions League football and not with a Russian team (This is the Azzurri fan talking )
The 2004 Olympic Bronze medal winner has seen his name accosted to the likes of : Manchester City, Palermo,Real Madrid, Half of Russia, Roma, Lazio, Milan, Liverpool and now Napoli
The ex-Roma youth player has been associated with a Gennaro Iezzo + Ca$h type deal in the past but Aldo Spinelli all but gift wrapped Marco Amelia for Napoli today:
Al momento non c’è alcuna richiesta anche perché abbiamo De Lucia che è molto valido. Qualora qualcuno venisse a chiederci il nostro portiere, ne discuteremmo. Città come Napoli, Milano e le squadre spagnole o inglesi potrebbero sostenere il costo del suo ingaggio. Se Marino lo acquistasse per giugno lasciandogli terminare la stagione a Livorno? Accetterei immediatamente perché Napoli deve ambire alla Champions League e con Amelia sarebbe a posto
Free Translation:
At the moment, nobody has offered nothin’. He would be a great fit in Napoli, who can afford him. The Spanish, English and pretty much any team from the former Soviet Block all want him as well. If Marco Amelia was a Cell Phone he’d be the new Iphone.
I would love to send him to Napoli tough, If Marino offers to buy him now on lay – away he can pick him up during the summer. I don’t wanna pay his fat Check anymore and De Lucia is GiGi Buffon Version 2.0 anyways…
His goal versus Partizan Belgrade in the 2006-07 UEFA CUP that Livorno won of course
nobody cares anyways…

Marco who would you choose to replace Amelia?

If Aldo gets around 10M$ for Marco Amelia thechoices get better
Marco has been an integral part of Livorno for the last years. I’d love to see Gianluca Curci between the sticks next year.
There’s also Morgan De Sanctis and Abbiati would be a good incentive if Amelia goes to AC Milan.
What do you think Vincent?

Curci would be good if Roma would let him go.Outside of Italy there’s the two you mentioned but Cuducini at Chelsea who isn’t getting regular football would be a good replacement.

Unfortunately,i really don’t think Carlo Cudicini would move back to Italy for a squad like Livorno.
I kind of like Flavio Roma from Monaco, but even there the joys of Montecarlo might are more enticing than the Livorno sea shore

Yes,Cudicini’s wage would send Spinelli spinning.Excuse my ignorance but who is Livorno’s no.2?

ALfonso De Lucia
he played 13 games for Parma before Bucchi came in.
He’s decent at best, but he played ok against Atalanta

Cheers. How come he started against Atalanta,is Amelia injured?

He picked up a very minor injury during the Roma game
He’ll be back after the break…

[...] The Marco Amelia auction has also begun (Livorno Offside) [...]

What can Livorno expect to get for him?I reckon less than what they could’ve got 2 years ago.

i dont think that roma will sell curci. i think if milan buys Doni from us and we get amelia, we could send curci your way on a loan deal.

I wouldn’t mind ameli joining Milan. I ahve always been a fan of his. Milan have a serious goalkeeping crisis and we need to fix it. Ameli is probably the only decent goalie that is not cup-tied

£5M and a loan deal,Curci, would be good for all concerned

Is it possible to buy Livorno home tickets on the day of the game or for the Juventus game the day before(Saturday)Thank You.

i wouldn’t mind that cash+loan deal. As we would get a decent keeper if milan does decide to buy doni, and curci would get a lot of starting experience.

Cash plus a loan deal in the summer…hmmm
That would be an acceptable deal for all parties involved, as long as it happens this Summer. It also depends on how much cash, i think that a co-ownership deal would suit Livorno a little more than only a loan.
Vincent: here’s a website with tips on Livorno tickets

well yeah it would, but i know we would not risk cerci in a co-ownership deal. haha

i meant curci

Cerci has unfortunately been soiled by the Black and Blue of Pisa…
But why would Livorno accept to develop and Mold him à la Marco Amelia and not be able to reap any of the benefits.
I mean accepting to give serious Serie A minutes to Curci is a better thing for Roma and Curci than for Livorno. Why not spend 75% of the Amelia cash on an experienced stopper?
If Roma doesn’t splash real cash on the spot (wich they hardly ever do)and include some sort of - here’s enough money for a decent defender and btw whe have guys like Okaka,A.Rosi,Gallopa that would love to help you out in the future but give Curci some serious minutes no matter what - Clause , Co-ownership is the way to go for Livorno.

i see what you are saying, but i am just worried about loosing curci. I think roma is realizing that they will need to spend some cash this winter if they want to push for a scudetto and farther in europe instead of just settling for a CL place and just getting out of the group stages.
