9 Reasons Livorno Loves Lucarelli

As we all know by now (Thanks to Martha and Francesco ) Lucarelli is going to Parma. He’s not coming back to the little Tuscan town by the sea, he’ll be finishing off his days in Emilia-Romagna. I mean who can blame him, Parma has sister cities like Moncton, Canada, Milwaukee, USA and Worms, Germany ! How the hell can Livorno, with sisters like of Bat Yam, Israel , Novorossiysk, Russia and Haiphong ,Vietnam, compete with that ?

Lucarelli has heard that Bobo wants La Nazionale again and he doesn’t want to miss out on Euro 2008. So I think Lucarelli’s return to the boot, from his Ukrainian pelerinage, is to show Bobby the Don Doni how slow and archaic Bobo looks compared to him. (That’s right Martha, i said Archaic)

Seeing how the Livorno offence is super potent with Tavano/Tristan/Bogdani out there, Parma might have been the right choice for Lucarelli (The fact they’ll be paying him well ’till he’s 36 must help)

But, apart from some Ultras gone mad, Livorno still loves Lucarelli and here are 9 reasons why ;

#1

He has always been active in the City, he’s a big time Communist and He started the Corriere Di Livorno newspaper with a coop of journalists in his hometown .The 1st player rating the paper ever gave him was a 5.5 rating for the his showing in the Azzurri shirt

#2

When Lucarelli was still with Torino. He went to the game that earned Livorno promtion to Serie B, and he was in the group of supporters that stormed the pitch afterwards in celebration.

#3

He has the Livorno crest tattooed on his left forearm (so you can see it with his Jersey on) and his jersey number, 99, is symbolic with Left-wing ultras group Brigate Autonome Livornesi, which was founded in 1999.

#4

Playing for the Italia U21 side in 1997…

#5

It has been reported in the past that, 1 of his telefonino ringtones was The Red Flag

#6

He has scored 92 goals in 146 matches FOR Livorno, that’s a 0.64 goal per game AVG

#7

He gave us the wonderful Paolo Di Canio vs Lucarelli Ideological battle/Rivalry, (Great post by Culture of Soccer)

#8

I had the choice between a good one with bad music or a good one with crappy music

So here are both :

Was that some 80’s attitude music or something?

a bit more Italian kitsch or Quétaine as we say in my neck of the woods…

#9

He reduced his salary to play with Livorno (he was still making a cool 1M$ but in this Football era, we all know what 1M$ is worth) I truly believe he isn’t like other football players out there and that he gave his all for the Livorno shirt. Playing with a Bi-polar/ maniaco-depressive President like Aldo Spinelli must of been hard. Me thinks that if it was Franco Sensi type president, Lucarelli would have scored more than a 100 goals for Livorno by now.

But in the End…

Arrivederci Cristiano !

Marco, we’re officially in a fight, you and me. As if Bobo NEEDS speed to finish. Please! He’s Bobo, he can do anything.

Oh, but you’ve got it backward, Marco — it’s Mutu who needs Bobo! (At this point I’m actually buying into my own hype, which is quite a feat.)
