Avellino,Spinelli and Cellerino

By: Marco Stucazzo | January 27th, 2009

Another 0-0 draw brings the Livornesi just one point behind Bari for first spot. It’s honestly been the same story all year. The defence is tight , Acori manages the squad well, we create many occasions and then, either the opposing goalie does his bi-centennial Gigi Buffon impression or Tomas Danilevicius plays ! It’s quite frustrating a part from being just redundant but hey, I’m happy I’m complaining about our lack of consistent finishing keeping us one point away from Serie A instant access right now. The only thing we really need right now would be a tall, quick finishing centre forward, basically the exact opposite of Vicius Tommy ! Especially after sitting through another goaless draw against an inferior opponent…

I think that’s exactly why Aldo Spinelli waited ‘till after this game to unveil new Argentinian via Chile signing Gaston Cellerino. Cellerino is a 6 foot 1 centre forward that seemingly managed to score 22 goals in 35 games for Rangers of the Chilean first Division. One of these happened to be ’’voted’’ South America’s sexiest goal in 2008 or something. (Scroll down; you got like 15 minutes of goals in there)

I’ll be honest; I didn’t know this Gaston guy existed before Saturday afternoon and Youtube videos can be ‘’misleading’’ let’s just say. But maybe it’s because I’ve been seeing way too much Vicius Tommy this year but I’m happy about this move. Worst case he pulls a Sidny and we’ll see him for 15 minutes of pitch time at best. Nonetheless, adding a Big, 23 year old, Boca Juniors Bread Centre Forward to this Livorno attack has a great ring to it don’t ya think? And I really don’t think Mr. Spinelli would dish out 3 million non-vecchia lira and tie him up to a 5 year contract if he didn’t think something was semi-special about this kid. Love him or Hate him, Aldo has presided over some decent mercato moves (Think Alè Diamanti, Nico Pulzetti and he found Bergvold in Denmark)

But the icing on the cake here is that Cellerino was seemingly all sealed signed and delivered to Lazio. Spinelli was talking to Lazio about getting him on loan. Then 48 hours before Aldo signed him he said this to some Laziale biased crap site :

“No, no macché Cellerino – ha detto il presidente Spinelli a Lalaziosiamonoi.it -.

Basically saying ; Screw Cellerino ! We got our eyes on someone and Lazio are slow so to hell with this and anyways Cellerino’s kind of fat and hasn’t played in like 25 days !

In comes Spinelli for the scoop and even tough we’re not playing them this year we still manage to piss them off !

Forza Ragazzi ! Il primo posto e tutto nostro !!!

Gaston Cellerino

His Goal of the year

Cellerino will probably prove to be a great addition to our squad; he possesses just the qualities we have been missing upfront this season (by the looks of the vids at least). The mercato of Spinelli and Ceravolo has been nothing but impressive this year!

Indeed, and i don’t see how Gaston can hurt us, especially after the weekly Danilevicius displays.
