Grosseto 2-3 Livorno, Highlights and an actual Analysis!?
By: Marco Stucazzo | February 21st, 2009
We are only 2 points away from Bari but Livorno definitely demonstrated serious character on the pitch today versus Grosseto, in their umpteenth Tuscan derby of the season. Down 2-0 after 25 minutes, mostly a mix of bad luck and brain farts and then the usual Livornese scenario unfolded… Diamanti pulls one out of his ass from like 35 yards to bring the game to 2-1 before half time…the it was all Livorno again…Tavano picked up a ball on the edge of the box to put it passed the Grossetto keeper to tie the game and then, here’s the unusual twist, Martin Bergvold picks up the ball at midfield, dribbles past everybody, stops at the edge of the area and flies one in, Francesco Totti style from the right edge of the box 3-2 after 70 minutes! Then Alfonso De Lucia makes a spectacular save with a couple of minutes left and voilà ! Still up top Serie B…!!!! It’s fun being a Livorno fan right now ! Forza Labronici !
The Livorno attack has been stellar all season, what a shame that Diamanti missed the clash with Bari ! Francesco Tavano’s 14th goal of the season makes him the second leading scorer behind Vantaggiato, imagine if he stopped shutting off his brain for 30 minutes every game. Fausto Rossini is at 7 goals in 12 games, that’s one every 112 minutes (!) pretty decent for a player with no talent and all heart…Alessandro Diamanti…nothing to say…his 9 goals were all amazing and important…he’s definitely the most dangerous player in Serie B right now…Credevamo di averene trovato uno brillante, ma in fatti abbiamo trovato un Diamanti !
That’s 30 goals for the Livorno trident attack in 27 games (!!!) Hell even Tommy Vicius managed to score one ! and to say that Serie A fans have to witness the weekly ”displays” of Chievo (sic) and Lazio (i just vomitted in my mouth a little)
(WHAT A SHAME SERIE B TV DOESN’T SHOW REPLAYS !)
Grosseto (4-3-1-2): Polito; Freddi, Porchia, Abruzzese, Garofalo; Gessa (70, Lazzari), Vitiello, Valeri (cap.) (26′, Capone); Cordova; Sansovini, Pichlmann (81′, Marconi).
A disposizione: Caparco, Stendardo, Mora, Consonni.
Allenatore: Ezio Rossi.
Livorno (4-3-3): De Lucia; Rosi, Perticone, Miglionico, Bonetto; Candreva (46′, Volpe), Loviso, Bergvold; Diamanti (71′, E. Filippini), Tavano (86′, Galante), Rossini.
A disposizione: Mazzoni, Paulinho, Rizza, Grandoni. Allenatore: Leonardo Acori
De Lucia : 6.5 : Nothing to do on the auto-goal but could have maybe saved the second one but that was cancelled by his save on Sansovini in the Second half. This guy is officially a guarantee in nets. (But I’d really like to see how he fares against Diamanti in training)
Aleandro Rosi 6.5 : This kid is smart ! Didn’t push as much on the flank as usual because Garofalo was being a constant pest, but managed to play some smart defense, which wasn’t his forte before, but he’s getting there. Smart
Romano Perticone : 7 The own goal was just bad luck but he managed to play a great game once again that’s why he gets a 7. He’s been playing so well that Grandoni and Galante can’t disloge him from the starting eleven. Serie A ready
G Miglionico 6.5 : See Perticone but take away a hint of hype.
R. Bonetto 6.5 : Mini mister man has got the flank on lock down. He has some serious iron lungs and played like a star in the second half. Needs to add a little bit more consistency to be good in serie a. He’s basically a rich man’s Fillipini twins in one man
M. Loviso: 6 : He’s clearly mania co-depressive. He doesn’t impose well on the game but he managed to play some smart defence today. The problem with Loviso is that he’s more talented than he’s playing. He used to be a U-21 regular and dictate game rhythm from midfield, now he’s just decent, sans plus. Semi Clever
M. Bergvold 7.5 : Back to his good old style. I think the fact he doesn’t have a guaranteed starting spot every week is pushing him in the ass because he played like a hungry man today. Add to that the winning goal (a fucking beauty!) and FCK Bergvold ‘s back !
Antonio Candreva : 6 : Not his best outing, maybe his U21 stint has tired him but he left at halftime. Francesco Volpe came in had gave a hand on the defensive side running his ass off to fuck with Grosseto’s space.
F. Tavano 7 : Like usual…nowhere to be sen in the 1st half and then Bam ! Pulls a goal out of his ass and starts being the spark plug all second half ! Frustratingly talented !
F Rossini 6.5 : Keeps holding up the squad well, he ain’t the most talented but the guy works his ass off all game. The Gattuso of forwards…crappy, but so gritty you love him !
Ale Diamanti 9 : God damn it ! Why the fuck wasn’t this kid starring for the U21’s at some time !? Probably his most beautiful goal in a Livorno shirt…and that’s saying a shitload ! Serie A deserves to see this kid and the Amaranto on a weekly basis!

Fantastic comeback from the Amaranto.Diamante’s a genius and Tav’s getting on the scoresheet regularly at last. The defence is playing well despite leaking goals but at least they give us a chance of winning games.
Thanks once more for the vid and write-up Marco as I had no chance of following this game.
