Livorno wins! I’m Serious…
By: Marco | November 2nd, 2007
Livorno wins! I’m not lying! The Amaranto made Antonio Gramsci proud with their performance on lo stretto.
The last time Livorno got an away win; it was at Ascoli in 2006. We didn’t dominate the game and got a couple of lucky breaks, but a win is a win. Livorno is bringing back 3 points to town and is now sharing the bottom of the table with Reggina. Highlights after the Jump
They orchestrated a nice Communist coup d’État while on the stretto, getting Reggina bench boss Ficcadenti (insert-teeth) fired. Renzo Ulivieri gets the hard task of filling Walter Mazzari’s shoes and saving Reggina from relegation. The Italian communist party member has a huge task ahead of him, with no Rolando Bianchi to get him a couple of undeserved points. For more on Ficcadenti/Foti/Ulivieri merry go-round head to Martha’s page. The queen of everything Serie A here at The Offside.
Livorno we’re in better form than usual and it can only progress from now on. The Camolese ritiro and the Spinelli biggest loser contest are paying off dividends already.
The first Livorno goal was a nice one; Pulzetti finished a nice team play to beat Campagnolo. Reggina came right back 3 minutes later. It was a sloppy goal for Reggina but Livorno need to start clearing those loose balls in the area. A weird own goal gave Livorno the go-ahead and Fausto Rossini came in and sealed the deal late in the game.
Amelia: Not one of his best games. The goal was a sloppy one where he could have done more. This isn’t the Amelia of old and he’ll need to find his good old self soon because Livorno won’t be playing Reggina every day. Maybe Spinelli is right about Amelia, he needs to lose a little weight. 5.5
Grandoni: Unspectacular but Solid, sans plus. 6
Galante: Hard working veteran. Also played a solid game and was probably the best looking defender out there. 6.5
Knezevic: Great at anticipating play, the young croatian stopper has a nice Serie A future ahead of him. 6
Balleri: Great defence on the flank and a couple of nice runs as well. Il capitano played well and you can always count on his persistence and experience. 6.5
Loviso: Great at getting the attack going and convincing in the midfield. He does give more attention to the offense than the defence. Good overall game 6
Pavan (71st min): Came on late to give Livorno a 4-man defence for the last 20 mins.Effective, no goals conceded , attaboy! . 6
Pulzetti: Finished a nice team play to score the 1st goal of the game. Nice shot pas Campagnolo. He got injured a little later and had to leave the game. He’s been consistent since the start of the season. The kid has talent and is inserting himself extremely well with the Amaranto 6.5
E. Filippini (46th) Positive outing for Filippini. Does the dirty work in midfield.6
Bergvold: He sarted the play that gave Livorno the lead. The former FCK player was a very good surprise. The Dane was probably the best player on the pitch on Wednesday. Livorno might have found a little gem. The former Danish U17 player of the year is versatile, solid and young. Welcome to Livorno ! 6.5
A. Filippini: A little bit better than his twin 6.5
Tavano: The Church of Born-again calciatori is working wonders with Ciccio.
He and Bogdani are getting closer as the days go by. He didn’t score this week but had 2 wonderful assists, especially the one on Rossini’s goal that sealed the match. He’s starting to look more comfortable as the games go by. He’s no Igor Protti but he’s playing great. The best has yet to come… 6.75
Bogdani: Fought hard with the Reggina defence all game, trying to create some room for Tavano. He shows up at every game at puts up a great effort up top.He and Tavano are looking better and better. 6.5
Rossini (84th): Scores 2 seconds after he comes. Calmly finishes a great pass from Tavano. Can’t ask him for more 7
Camolese: He did take off Loviso to go for a 4 man defense when it was still 1-1. A little overprotective on the defensive side but it all worked out well this time 6
