Serie A is Classy ? Ingrid Betancourt Hommage

This has nothing to do with Livorno, a part from the fact that our fans will be holding up banners;
Ingrid Betancourt, The one time Colombian Presendential candidate was kidnapped on Febuary 23rd of 2002, 6 years ago by the FARC Rebels. On Febuary 23-24, Serie A stadiums will be filled with banners asking for the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt
There’s also some talk about trying to get the players to wear something that would help get some visibility to this whole affair. That’s a nice move by Serie A. I’m happy their image is finally associated with something positive.

Il presidente della Lega Calcio, Antonio Matarrese- ha fatto sapere la Lega-, ha aderito alla richiesta del sindaco di Roma Walter Veltroni per la liberazione della signora Betancourt (nella foto ). “Nelle giornate di sabato 23 e domenica 24 febbraio (a sei anni dal sequestro di Ingrid Betancourt, ndr) su tutti i campi di serie A verrà esposto uno striscione a favore dell’iniziativa”. “E’ importante- ha dichiarato Matarrese- che il calcio metta la sua grande visibilità ed interesse al servizio di cause così importanti”.
Tuttavia Veltroni aveva chiesto ieri a Matarrese “se domenica 24 febbraio sarà possibile far indossare ai giocatori di calcio della serie A una maglietta con la richiesta di liberazione di Ingrid Betancourt e degli altri sequestrati. L’immagine farebbe il giro del mondo, considerato anche che molti calciatori sono sudamericani”. Ieri il sindaco di Roma e leader del Pd aveva incontrato in Campidoglio Yolanda Pulecio, madre di Ingrid Betancourt, la colombiana attivista deidiritti umani e candidata alle elezioni presidenziali rapita dalle Farc, le Forze armate rivoluzionarie della Colombia, il 23 febbraio 2002.
