With a stellar performance Livorno leap out of the relegation zone thanks to Francesco Tavano’s brace and a surprisingly excellent performance by Diego Tristan. No more smelly basement for the Labronici.

Our favorite burgundy boys bagged all 3 points with a 3-1 win over Sampdoria on Sunday. The Labronici were 2 goals up after 10 minutes and won beautifully by a 2 goal margin. The Amaranto boys, Much to the surprise of every betting man, outplayed Sampdoria all afternoon. Except for a 15 minute mental lapse in the 2nd half, Livorno played the perfect game. Everything seemd to roll in livorno’s favour and all the credit goes to the team. Samp GK Castellazzi had to channel his inner Gigi Buffon to prevent Livorno from scoring at least another 2 goals.

Here’s a little recap of the game

8th minute 1-0! Livorno scores! Knezevic heads in a supeyb cross fro Pasquale to make it 1-nil for the home team

10th minute 2-0! Tavano whips one in off an excellent free kick from Daniele De Vezze a.k.a DDV

18th minute Splendid Free kick by Tristan who forces Castellazzi to smack it over the bar.

21st Tristan shoots from 40 yards out. The Spanish bomber is growing in confidence.

30th Livorno is manhandling Sampdoria in midfield. Pulzetti, Bergvold and Loviso are doing a great job of being on every ball.

51st Camolese is screaming at his squad to continue pushing

56th Great pass from Tristan to Tavano on the counter , but goes wide

62nd Mazzarri goes for the twin tower combo and subs in Bonazzoli for young Milan grown Paolo Sammarco

70th Samp is attacking like crazy

71st Pavan and Bogdani come in for Tristan and Bergvold. Diego Tristan gets his first of many Italian standing ovations

Camolese has now switched to a 4 Central Back defense

74th Castellazzi saves Samp’s ass once again by stopping a Tavano bullet

79th Bellucci scores on a cross from Bonazzoli. Nice half – rovesciata by the man in no way related to Monica

85th Samp has been pushing the Livorno defense like mad men!

88th Tavano Scores! Tavano closes the game with a nice finish of a counter attack started by Pulzetti

90th one of the Flippini twins subs in for Tavano. Standing O for the newfound hitman.

Camolese subbed Tavano so he could get the standing ovation that he deserved. GC has officially resuscitated Tavano, ‘’discovered’’ Martin Bergvold and he now seems to have Diego Tristan back on the right track. I’m starting to like GC Camolese a lot. This little man has amazingly revolutionized Livorno in 6 short games

The Molson Ex 3 stars of the Match:

Tristan: Camolese surprinsigly started the Spaniard on Sunday for the first time since his appointment as Livorno boss and what does DT do? He repays the gaffer with an excellent 70 minute display. Is the Ex-Depor Diego Tristan back? It has only been one game but things are looking good. Had 2 great chances on goal and even tested his long range missile again. He and Tavano completed each other well all game and he wasn’t on the pitch for the Samp goal. His mere presence makes Livorno a threat on set pieces.
Vote 7

Knezevic: The croatian stopper has been looking ever so impressive since Camolese stuck him as a Central Back. He has been repaying the Gaffer with Goals, great anticipation on the defensive end and a great aerial presence on both ends of the pitch. Another problem solved by doctor Camolese.

Vote 7,5

Tavano: I don’t know what Johnny Camels promised him for Christmas but Tavano is playing great! 6 goals in total this season! Only Trezeguet, Totti, Ibracadabra and Kaka have scored more goals than Ciccio. His brilliant understanding with Tristan on the pitch today makes the future seem a little brighter for the Amaranto. It seems like Tavano is back. He has now climbed officially to a tad above average on the Richter scale of averageness. If he continues like this and Tristan keeps improving, Livorno will become a team that’s kind of fun to watch. Ha!

Time to go get some points in Sardinia
