Livorno 1 – 2 Cagliari, Bobby Freshwater is the new Vieri while Diamanti is a Homeless man’s (with Lupus) Antonio Cassano
By: Marco Stucazzo | April 13th, 2008Highlights ! Get ‘em while you still can
A mix of bad luck, Marco Storari awesomeness, Erjon Bogdani awkwardness, Bobby Freshwater dangerousness, Francesco Tavano dumbassness and you get to see Livorno lose 6 points at home to the hands of a very lively Cagliari. Contrary to the Amaranto Liberation Army’s andata game versus the Sardinians, this game was a pleasure for the eye. Both teams were attacking with the fierceness only a heated relegation battle atmosphere can provide.
Marco Amelia was forced to make some great saves and just watching Roberto Acquafresca play, from an azzurri fan’s point of view, was a beautiful thing that gives me much hope for the future.(Now if Canini can continue staying healthy and developing properly Caglirari might have something quite interesting for the upcoming years) I’m pretty sure la Nazionale will soon have its new Cristian Vieri, the glory years version. Nice early goal on a team effort put the Amaranto 1 up after 2 minutes but Unfortunately, Marco Amelia stupidly created the almost-instant fresh equaliser by kicking the ball straight on the foot of a Sardinian. Bam 1-1 !
2nd half was a Sardinian story ; Acquafresca slots in his second sweetly for the winner and Livorno get a goal disallowed for a dogdy offside call. 2-1 ! Livorno back to the basement
Highlight while they last :
LIVORNO-CAGLIARI 1-2 (Primo tempo 1-1)

CAGLIARI (4-3-2-1): Storari; Pisano, Lopez, Canini, Agostini; Biondini, Conti, Parola; Jeda (Fini dal 42′ s.t.), Cossu (Foggia dal 22′ s.t.); Acquafresca (Matri dal 45′ s.t.). All: Ballardini.

Let me cliché you with ; this game was the tale of 2 halves. The Burgundy (now-basement) Boys could have easily come out of the 1st half at least a goal up. If it wasn’t for Francesco Tavano’s unbelievable, and I mean How – the – Fuck – did – you – miss – that, incredibile , miss Livorno would have been 2 up before the game clock ticked ten .
To Jeremy’s defense, Cagliari could have easily won this game 5-1, Bobby – I ain’t polish – Freshwater should have scored at least 3 just for Karmic purposes. At least, this was an exciting heart pumping game.
Livorno have finally found the right mix of players to head into to the very final stretch of this season. But this right recipe comes a little too late, bottom of the basement late. The midfield is solid with De Vezze – Bergvold – Pulzetti and The mildly successful experience of partnering Tristan and Tavano is long gone and Ale Diamanti has clearly merited his titolare shirt. The Diamond tested Marco Storari’s gloves on more than one occasion and managed to shrug off his ball hogging problem for the afternoon. With Diamanti changing his : if ball hits foot kick hard towards goal mentality he’.ll be able to play some regular Serie A ball in my opinion he’s like a homeless man’s Cassano (with Lupus and Leprecy of course)
If it wasn’t for Tavano’s excellent Houdini impersonation ( Tavano looks like the resurrection of his old Empoli self only 1 out of every 3 games, this needs to change now ) Livorno are looking down at Cagliari instead of up.
Unorganisation :
Will someone please explain to me the stupidness of inserting Erjon Bogdani for a more than excellent Martin Bergvold ? That fucked up the whole equilibrium of Livorno’s midfield and Attack .
GC Camels : Ora la delusione è da assorbire velocemente. Dobbiamo lottare fino a che la matematica non dirà qualcosa di diverso”.
No shit Sherlock, but is there also a mathematical problem that could be resolved by not putting Erjon Bogdani on the field for your most dangerous Danish midfielder ?
Bogdani sucks as a Midfielder, but not his fault
Good things :
Team morale looks great at least
Bergvold’s back
Diamanti’s is less rough
The Picchi was semi packed
Fausto Rossini didn’t step on the pitch
Only 4 corners allowed
Bad things:
8 corners, no win
Another dubious disallowed goal
Livorno lie in last place god damn it !
Finally a message for Aldo Spinelli ; STOP WEARING THAT STUPID YELLOW RAINCOAT! IT’S NOT LUCKY ANYMORE’ JUST BURN IT!
Forza Ragazzi C’è ancora tempo !

Perhaps the fates are setting us up for an EPIC season-ending relegation battle royale with Empoli.
Which we of course win.
I hope.
