Livorno 1 - 1 Genoa, Tavano Eurogoal Not Enough
By: Marco | February 11th, 2008*Highlights further down
Genoa was down to 10 men for the last 15 minutes but even Francesco Tavano’s highlight reel worthy, 10th goal of the season wasn’t enough to see Livorno harvest all 3 points against Genoa. Livorno put on a decent performance at the Picchi but Marco Di Vaio’s goal, a lucky bounce off of Dario Knezevic, sealed the result in the 83rd. Marco Amelia was irreproachable again couldn’t do nothing on the goal. Livorno’s 420th goal conceded because of a bad ball clearance in the box this season. Fuck! These 2 points might be important at the end of the season.
Thoughts on the game;
Kudos to GP Gasperini and his balls, the Genoa coach finished the game with 5 attackers Figueroa, Di Vaio, Sculli , Borriello and Milanetto, all that down to 10 men. It paid off with a draw. Someone has been taking notes while looking at that Italia-Germany Game of 2006… Pirlo, Pirlo! GOL DI GROSSO! GOL DI GROSSO!!!! (Sorry, got carried away there) Well done Mr Gasperini, I’m guessing you’re a betting man. Genoa attacked hard to get that point. They needed to wait 83 minutes before opening, actually breaking, the Livorno’s defensive lock.
Davide Balleri had an woeful game, maybe the 4-4-2 GC Camolese has been trying in training with Edgar Alvarez as a winger is a better option when Balleri’s having an off day like the Genoa game. Nothing to do with Balleri, but I can’t wait to see Martin Bergvold back.
Marco Amelia is confirming himself more and more. Hell I was the first to say he was overrated. I’m glad he has proven me wrong. The Kid can play with the big boys! Let’s enjoy his last games in a Livorno shirt
Tristan was back in the starting line up after sitting out the Palermo match. Diego Tristan had a decent partita, his partnership with Tavano is solid and Diego obtained the first good chance of the game in the opening minutes. He looked dangerous all game for once, Maybe it’s because I had the chance to witness the magnificent play of Fausto Rossini last week. I look like an Azzurri starter compared to Fausto, and I have 3 legs!

So we stand in 15th position at 22 points, only 3 points away from Empoli and the last relegation spot. Useless Lazio !
1 point in the last 3 games, I can sense Aldo Spinelli is starting to grow impatient. I can hear the Coach eating President’s stomach rumbling and I’m sure Aldo is looking at GC Camolese as if he were a sumptuous Saltimbocca. If we can manage to get at least 1 point from the 2 upcoming Milan games or Hell, an upset against Inter would be right about perfect if you ask me. If not, GC Camolese might be out of a job, soon. It sounds strange to say that seeing how he turned this team around, but we’re talking Aldo Spinelli here. The next 2 games should give us a better idea of Aldo’s intentions. In the meantime, GC Camolese can rest assured his Livorno prowess has been noticed by all of Serie A, maybe more if he beats 1 of the 2 Milanese sisters. Hell let’s go for both!
Nonetheless, Forza Ragazzi !

GC Camolese is a great coach, I hope Palermo snatch him up.
That goal by Tavano was ridiculous, and the more I see Livorno play I believe they will be staying up. If they can get a few guys healthy, they’ll definitely be good to last this season.
