Livorno Wins Again and F&$K The Police!
By: Marco | November 13th, 2007“My practicality consists in this, in the knowledge that if you beat your head against the wall it is your head which breaks and not the wall… that is my strength, my only strength.”
Antonio Gramsci
*I totally agree that families and children need to be able to SAFELY enjoy a football game. Being not politically correct, and not being extremely comfortable with the English language, these are the only things i will say about the Sunday Incidents in Italy, because I feel this blog isn’t the right place to start a fiery political discussion about the state of Italian democracy. It’s an extremely complex situation that needs to be meticulously analysed.
There’s definitely something wrong in Italy , and I don’t think that football and Ultràs are the only causes for this violence. The Italian police, thus the State, killed (I’m not going to say assassinated) one of its citizens on Sunday because of « a tragic error. » These kinds of things aren’t supposed to happen, and shouldn’t in a democracy. The FIGC reacted differently in the case of Raciti’s death and Sandri’s death. I do not want to approve or condemn the actions of the people in Italy on Sunday, but WTF? did you think was going to happen? Unfortunately, the message sent out in Italy on Sunday is that the death of a fan/citizen is less important than the death of Policeman.
As the Parma fans have claimed before, La Morte è uguale per tutti.
On with Football:
Livorno took 3 points from another Tuscan Derby on Sunday. That’s officially 7 points in the last 3 games!!! Livorno played a great game and earned the victory on Sunday. A win that was overshadowed by hardcore events in Italy . Both Teams took the field with a black arm-band as a form of respect for the Death of Gabriele Sandri. The Burgundy Tuscan side won 3-2 with all 3 goals coming in the 1st half of play. Tavano, Bergvold and Knezevic got on the scoresheet for the Amaranto. Knezevic and Bergvold scored their first goals in Serie A.
Livorno’s squad played great defence and fought hard for all 3 goals. The also managed to get another coach fired. Mandorlini was sacked because of this loss. Unfortunately it’s not a communist coach who’ll take the bench boss job, Mario Berretta will have the chance of enjoying Siena ’s road to Serie B this year. Serie A presidents need to get used to this, Livorno is coming and we’re on fire!
Highlights with no weird music and a couple of interviews.
Amelia: Played great and wasn’t really at fault for the 2 goals. He made a couple of key saves that helped Livorno on the way to 3 points. Good old Marco seems to be back.
Vote 6.5
Grandoni: Played solidly again, and reacted well enough to save a goal off of Big Mac’s foot just after the hour mark.
Vote 6.5
Galante: He’s an aggressive force in the back line, nothing spectacular but solid.
Vote 6.5
Knezevic: Best game ever in a Livorno Shirt and a supeyb goal .
Vote 7
Balleri: Great as usual. Played prudently in the first half. He didn’t want to give to much space to Grimi but started attacking in the second half. One of the best geezers in Italy.
Vote 6.5
E. Filippini. Not spectacular but adequate. Covers well Bergvold when he lends a hand to the attack.
Vote 6
Bergvold: First Serie A goal!. The young Dane is getting accustomed to Serie A and he loves it. He completely erased Locatelli from the game on the defensive side and knows when to go for goal. Camolese says he’s only weakness was that he didn’t shoot enough. Easily Man of The Match
Livorno has found a little gem.
Vote 8.5
Loviso: Played a little more to the left that he’s used to. He was decent and got better as the game went on.
Vote 6
Pasquale: Not many Siena attacks come on his side, so he didin’t need to work hard on the defensive side. He managed to get many crosses in the box and a lot of those were useful and precise.
Vote 6.5
Tavano: He’s back! maybe not, but he has been giving consistent performances since Camolese’s appointent. His goal was opportunistic and placed with millimetrical accuracy in the left corner. His partnership with Bogdani is getting easier every game, as both players feed off from each other very well. Looked like he could have scored another one in the Second half but he didn’t receve as many balls as in the first half
Vote 7
Big Bad Bogdani: His only problem is that he hasn’t scored yet. He pitches in on the defensive side, holds the ball, is great in the air and plays off his teammates. His triangolo with Bergvold lead to the Dane’s first Serie A goal ever. The only thing he needs is to score, but Bogdani is a very good and selfless player.
Vote 7
Rossini 70th minute : Replaced a tired Bogdani , gave his all like usual
Vote 6
Camolese: 7 points in the last 3 games. He brought back 3 points from a Tuscan Derby that was away from home. All his substitutions were smart (Luciano Spalletti could learn a thing or 2 here) and he has managed to inject dynamism and enthusiasm to this Livorno squad. Salvezza looked like a Mountain before he got here, now it looks like a Hill. Forza Camolese. Even Spinelli has to be happy with the tactician.
Vote 9
It’s international time again, The Azzurri will look to spank Scotland with an almost full strenght
squad:
4 burgundy Boys have been called up to their respective National Teams;
Rahman Rezaei has officially withdrawn from the Iranian squad because of a rift with the Persian Coach. It’s not just because he sucks donkey dick…
Marco Amelia who will maybe get a chance to play the Faroes.
Dario Knezevic will join the Croatian team who’ll want to spank the brits
Erjon Bogdani, will head the Albanian attack vs Crystal Chivu and friends
Edgar Alvarez will join David Suazo on the Honduran team
In honor of our favorite Squadra, who will show the beautiful thing that is Italian Football , from what i heard they are the world champs…
